The Tour

The route starts from the heart of the Dolomites, the Olympic city of Cortina d'Ampezzo. Following the old railway line, you can cycle unhurriedly to Pieve di Cadore, the birthplace of Titian. Once you have crossed the Terra dei Gelatieri, a curious and little-known valley with its nerve centre in Longarone, you will reach Ponte nelle Alpi and then Belluno. The tour will take you first to Feltre and then to Bassano del Grappa, where the slopes will become gentler. After a visit to the city of Asolo, you will continue towards Treviso. Following the river Sile, you will finally reach the wonderful city of Venice.

The route
FROM CORTINA D'AMPEZZO TO VENICE

From the heart of the Dolomites to the heart of Italian art and culture. An itinerary that is little-known and full of curiosities, dedicated to wellness and nature.

Day 1

Arrival in Cortina d`Ampezzo

Individual arrival at the hotel. Free unattended parking is available near the hotel.

Day 2

Cortina d'Ampezzo - Belluno (about 75 km)

Today you will be cycling gently along the old railway, track from which you can admire the Sorapis on the left and the Cinque Torri on the right. Continue along the Boite valley until you reach Pieve and Calalzo di Cadore. Here you will reach the beginning of the new bike path, which will lead you to Longarone. The town was completely rebuilt after 1963, the year of the Vajont tragedy. From Longarone you will be cycling gently downhill to Belluno.

Day 3

Belluno - Feltre (about 40 km)

From Belluno, a small town at the foot of the Dolomites, the tour continues towards the hills and follows a well-defined route that will bring you to end your day in Feltre, after passing through characteristic villages and breathtaking landscapes.

Day 4

Feltre - Bassano del Grappa/Asolo (about 55 km)

The first few kilometres are spent cycling down the valley of the river Brenta. After reaching the plain, you will come to Bassano del Grappa, a place rich in history and charm. The name of the town comes from Mount Grappa and it is here that you can taste a number of distinctive grappas (famous Italian spirits). You will also find many monuments to visit, including the Civic Museum, Piazza della Libertà and the Ponte degli Alpini, based on a design by Andrea Palladio. Leaving the Alps behind you can see numerous villas, also designed by Palladio. Asolo is one of the most evocative historical centres in Italy. Nestled within the ancient walls that branch off from the Rocca, a 12th century fortress, it preserves in every glimpse evidence of its many centuries of history. A fascinating town on gentle slopes, Asolo was once a destination beloved of poets and writers, artists and travellers, who found inspiration and harmony here. A visit to Asolo allows you to reconcile a taste for history and culture with culinary pleasures.

Day 5

Bassano del Grappa/Asolo - Treviso (about 55 km)

Before continuing on to Treviso, enjoy the panorama from the hills towards the plain. Treviso is also known as the city of waterways. Along the canals you can admire wonderful houses and venture into clubs and local shops. In describing it, the locals use words like small, beautiful, elegant or romantic. The historic centre of Treviso is surrounded by 16th century walls and the river Sile flows gently through the city. One of the most beautiful routes to is just to ride around the walls, which allows you to admire the beautiful villas overlooking the waters of two rivers.

Day 6

Treviso - Venice (about 45 km)

Cycling along the river Sile you will finally reach the Adriatic Sea, arriving by bike in the Piazzale Roma in Venice, site of the magnificent and imposing 'Serenissima'.
