You will enjoy a unique panoramic view from the first stage, St. Moritz - Tirano, which will take you into Italy. You will then follow the cycle path “Sentiero Valtellina“. Awaiting you there is a relaxing boat trip across Lake Como to Lecco, the famous city of Manzoni. Following the river Adda, towards Trezzo d‘Adda, after the castle you will take the cycle path of the Martesana canal all the way into Milan. Along the way you will find old weirs and the classic manor houses of the Milanese aristocracy: here you can also get in touch with the work of the genius of Leonardo da Vinci, through the Ecomuseum Adda itinerary that you will find along the way.

The route
FROM ST. MORITZ TO MILAN

A series of unique views as you are taken, from St.Moritz to Milan. A varied itinerary with train and boat routes but also with excursions on foot. A journey dedicated to wellness and relaxation.

Day 1

Arrival in St. Moritz

You will have plenty of time to visit this famous tourist destination. St. Moritz is surrounded by nature and majestic peaks, where the sun shines around 322 days a year and with the highest altitude mineral water springs in Switzerland.

Day 2

St. Moritz - Tirano

The morning is free at your disposal. In the early afternoon, the stage begins with the train (approx. 2.5h), running on the same railway as the red Bernina train from St. Moritz to Tirano. Enjoy the wonderful panorama, of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The railway line climbs to the glacier and then descends to Italy via alpine passes: 55 tunnels, 196 bridges and slopes up to 70 per thousand. At 2,253 m asl is the highest point: Bernina. Here, in the midst of the beautiful Alps, culture and nature form an alliance that demands discovery. Overnight stay in Tirano.

Day 3

Tirano - Morbegno/Lake of Como (approx. 65 km)

For those who have booked the e-bike, the delivery takes place here. Starting from Tirano there is a slightly downhill route that will take you along the river Adda to cross Valtellina, passing by the small village of Teglio (famous for pizzoccheri, a well-know local type of pasta), to the smallest of the Italian provincial capitals: Sondrio. The first stage ends in Morbegno, whose numerous historic buildings bear witness to a rich and fascinating past. Walking through its streets, you can appreciate the beautiful facades of the old buildings, with iron balconies and friezes adorning the walls. The Collegiate Church of San Giovanni Battista, a splendid building in exquisite Baroque style, dating back to the 17th-18th centuries, is well worth a visit. Other churches are also noteworthy, but one of the symbols of the city is the Ponte di Ganda, characterised by highly impressive architectural lines. Finally, remember to also pamper your palate: the local specialty is Bitto, a typical cheese of Valtellina and one of the main ingredients of pizzoccheri. Overnight stay in Morbegno/Lake Como.

Day 4

Morbegno/Lake Como - Como (approx. 15 km)

In Colico you will be embarking on the boat that will take you across the lake (approx. 3,5 h). You can admire the captivating charms of the whole area, with a short stop in Bellagio, known as the Pearl of Lake Como. Arrival in Como in the late afternoon.

Day 5

Como - Lecco (approx. 44 km)

Leaving Como towards the east, you will follow a stretch where the mountains get closer and closer, while the variety of the landscape is characterised by the many lakes that you meet: Lake Montorfano, Lake Alserio, Lake Pusiano, Lake Annone, before arriveing in Lecco. This stretch offers a highly varied range of points of interest, from the scenic-natural and from the historical-cultural point of view.

Day 6

Lecco – Trezzo sull’Adda ( circa 35 km)

Today you will follow the cycle path along the river Adda, which once again flows along its bed on leaving the lake. This stretch is set in a fairytale landscape, with historic hydroelectric power stations, monasteries, typical restaurants, exciting and enchanting views.

Day 7

Trezzo sull‘Adda - Milan (approx. 40 km)

Today it is the final stage, along the famous Martesana cycle path, a canal completed in 1496 under the guidance of Ludovico il Moro. Among the places of interest you can admire are several villas (Villa Melzi in Vaprio, Villa Aitelli in Inzago, Villa Serbelloni in Gorgonzola, to name a few), many mills, churches, old factories, and washhouses. The countryside will gradually leave room for the city and you will enter Milan from the north-east, continuing along the city‘s bike paths until you reach your hotel.
